Russian transport ministry mulls Elon Musk's Hyperloop use
SOCHI, May 20 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Transport Ministry is ready to assign road construction under the Hyperloop technology, developed by high-tech businessman Elon Musk, on several railway segments, Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov told reporters on Friday.
Hyperloop, a transport based on a technology combining magnetic levitation with low pressure, was presented earlier in May.
Russian Railways said on Thursday that it is interested in the technology and established a working group to study the opportunities.
Sokolov said that the government wants innovative roads between Moscow and St. Petersburg, Moscow and Sochi, and also roads connecting the capital with the southern ports, and the Moscow–Kazan railway planned to be extended to China.
“Since all projects have been reflected in the transport planning schedule, we are ready to offer them for projects of such kind, it is important that the project gained an acclaim and successfully certified,” Sokolov said.
